total goal
Challenge
As a result of Hurricane Maria many people don't have a job or economic resources, which causes extreme need and poverty in the communities. The long-term economic impact of Hurricane Maria in PR has estimates of up to 20% decline in economic activity, with up to a cumulative $100 billion in lost economic output. The humanitarian crisis in the aftermath of Hurricane has led to over 160,000 people to leave the island for the states.
Solution
For Such a Time as This will provide programs to empower the individuals and communities to work in a sustainable way. Through educational programs and trainings the people will gain knowledge in different areas to work and sustain their families. At the same time, For Such a Time as This will provide the educational programs, training and services free for the communities.
Long-Term Impact
The Educational and Relief Center will provide constant education, support and training to help individuals and families to rise out of poverty. In the event of any future natural disaster, the Educational and Relief Center will be ready to help a community of 600+ families.
